NORRATH FIELD GUIDE

Maps & atlas

Trace the zone geometry. See the elevation. Make your own annotations.

Greater Faydark · Coordinate Edition

Original Field Guide plate
Original Greater Faydark coordinate map on parchment, with Kelethin detail and twelve indexed landmarks

Created from the local January 5, 2016 map snapshot: 1,737 segments and 76 labels. Includes a Kelethin inset, coordinate grid, elevation key and /loc landmark index. Older labels and connections may differ from today’s game.

Elevation colors describe map-line endpoints, not a reconstructed terrain surface. This is new artwork based on zone geometry; no book pages or web artwork were reproduced.

Add an original point of interest

Open a base zone.txt and its optional zone_1.txt, _2.txt or _3.txt layers from your EQ maps folder. Your files stay in this browser. Each zone has its own origin; this is a zone atlas, not a shared global coordinate system. The practice map is original example geometry, not a surveyed EverQuest zone.

Map coordinates and /loc

EverQuest /loc reports Y, X, Z. Map files use −X, −Y, Z. The readout shows both coordinate forms and the selected plane.

Use Z filters and side views to separate floors, platforms and underground paths.

Original artwork workflow

Load your zone files, choose the ink style and grid, add your own labels, then save a PNG or annotation layer. Historical artwork can guide the visual direction; it remains with its original cartographer.

Brewall’s map construction standards

Inspired by The Maps of Myrist

Brewall’s Myrist location-name notes · Official Norrath map artwork

Original cartography with parchment, ink, a coordinate grid and carefully placed landmarks. Use the book and historical maps for visual inspiration, then trace your own zone files and add your own notes.

Artwork and coordinate views serve different purposes: a beautiful world overview suggests the journey, while a zone map preserves the local X, Y and Z geometry.
